as i continue to shift my focus away from wedding to doing more seniors and now…children pictures! at first i was apprehensive about doing children (and i am still am) but after taking a step back and realizing that not all kids are nightmares i figured i would i would give my interpretation of what children images should look like.
i haven’t decided if the focus on kids pictures will be more infants, toddlers or just kids so expect a lot of changes going from here on out. the one thing i do know is that i don’t want to create images that are similar to some of the chain stores but something entirely different and unique. because of the directions i am going in, not everyone can be a ‘j kid’!
the determining factor will be how you dress your child. if you prefer to where barney inspired pants with elmo t-shirts to a photo session then ‘j kids’ may not be for you.

Andre, man im loving the images of the little professor first of all is that a blackboard or something you created? Im lovin that… and also can i ask how did you get that crumbled up paper effect? please give a brother some tips here in missouri. Check out my blog type it in as it reads..
Bro. Andre,
these pictures are amazing (especially SIENNA lol) and I love the part that says if you prefer to wear barney inspired pants with elmo t-shirts to a photo session then ‘j kids’ may not be for you… pretty hilarious!!!

hey corey,
thanks for the compliment. the background is the studio and it was made. as far as the crumbled up paper thingy…its exactly that a crumpled up piece of paper scanner photoshop layers
hey camille,
now you know you were the type that had the ‘dora the explora’ shoes and stir-up pants! i have evidence you know!
HAHAHA… no I can honestly say that I do not ever remember having character shoes. I wore saddle shoes a lot, so what evidence are you talking about!?!
bro. andre,
these are some gorgeous shots…I definitely like the processing you chose to do on all of these. ps or lightroom actions?
jarrette,
i use PS for retouching purposes only now. meaning if i want to retouch, dodge/burn, apply a textured layer or senior special sauce.
for kids LR is all that i need because kids don’t need as much help. theres a LR 2.0 beta out there if you are interested, but i am nervous that my collections of presets will not be compatible for 2.0 when it releases.
